Imperial Engineering, one of the UK’s leading distributors of bus and coach parts, is proud to announce a further expansion of its Harlow facility with the addition of 4,000 square feet of new space adjacent to its existing factory and offices.
This latest development represents another significant milestone in the company’s continued growth journey. Having relocated from its long-standing base in Cheshunt to a modern, fully refurbished site in Harlow three years ago, Imperial now operates from a combined facility offering 20,000 square feet of warehousing and office space. The new capacity will further strengthen its operational capabilities and help to future-proof the business, as demand for its products continues to increase.
The new space will be dedicated to the storage of larger, heavier components such as bus and coach axles, allowing Imperial to safely and efficiently manage bulky stock. It will also enhance the company’s parts packaging operations, creating a more streamlined workflow that improves order fulfilment speed and picking accuracy for customers.
Recognised as a trusted partner to operators and workshops nationwide, Imperial supplies premium-quality components from leading OEM brands. Its growth has been driven by a strong commitment to friendly professional service, technical expertise, and the ability to adapt to an evolving industry.
A key example of this evolution is Imperial’s position as the exclusive distributor in the UK and Northern Ireland for electric bus manufacturer BYD. As the industry transitions towards cleaner, more sustainable transport solutions, Imperial is playing a vital role in supporting operators with parts and expertise for next-generation electric vehicles.
Supporting this growth and diversification is the recent implementation of Imperial’s advanced Warehouse Management System (WMS). The system has delivered significant operational improvements across the business, including enhanced picking accuracy, tighter stock control, and improved order tracking. In addition, the WMS has increased overall inventory efficiency, ensuring that parts are managed and dispatched with greater precision.
The move to a fully digital system has also eliminated the need for paper-based documentation, reducing administrative processes and supporting more sustainable ways of working.
Commenting on its expansion, Imperial’s Sales Director John Dwight said:
“We are delighted to be expanding our Harlow facility, as the additional space allows us to better manage heavier components such as axles while also improving our packaging operations. Combined with the implementation of our new WMS, we are seeing real benefits in terms of accuracy, efficiency, and service delivery, which will further improve our customer partnerships.
“Over the years, Imperial has developed into a leading distributor by continuously investing in our infrastructure and adapting to the needs of the industry. Our exclusive distributor partnership with BYD is a great example of how we are supporting the transition to electric vehicles, while continuing to deliver the high standards our customers expect. This latest expansion is another step in ensuring we are well positioned for the future.”
